The BSAVA Formulary has been one of the profession’s most valued and trusted publications for over a quarter of a century. Both parts of the formulary provide a list of drugs available for use in veterinary care alongside additional information.

Part A: Canine and Feline

BSAVA Formulary part A (Canine and Feline)The Canine and Feline part provides an alphabetical list of drugs available for veterinary use in dogs and cats.

The information has been fully updated for 2023 with new drug monographs, a clear indication of which drugs are authorized for use in dogs, cats or both species; guidance on the prescribing cascade and medicines available as ‘veterinary specials’; and a sedation protocol for dogs with the ABCB1 gene and a mycobacterial protocol for cats. As part of BSAVA’s continuing commitment to providing rational and tiered antibiotic selection, relevant drug monographs now cite the European Medicines Agency (EMA) categories. This is complemented by an Appendix providing guidance on the categories and on the responsible use of antibiotics. A new appendix on the responsible use of parasiticides has also been added.

The Canine and Feline Formulary is accompanied by a range of useful Client Information Leaflets which have been updated and expanded alongside the new edition.
