The Amoroso Award was instituted in memory of the late Professor EC Amoroso of the Royal Veterinary College and is presented for outstanding contributions to undergraduate teaching of small animal studies (preclinical or clinical).

2025 Winner – Prof Pawel Marek Beczkowski DVM, PhD, DipECVIM-CA, DAiCVIM, FRCVS

Paweł is a board-certified small animal internist, virologist, and educator. He received his DVM from Lublin University of Life Sciences, Poland in 2008. He also holds a Wellcome Trust funded PhD from the University of Glasgow. His research has deciphered important aspects of virus evolution in the progression of natural feline immunodeficiency virus infection. Paweł has completed a clinical rotating internship at the Animal Health Trust and a residency in small animal internal medicine at the University of Glasgow. In his current academic role, he provides pre-clinical and clinical teaching in internal medicine to undergraduate veterinary students and works on the application of the oLAMP reaction for the diagnosis of companion animal infectious diseases.
