The BSAVA puts its plan into action with new leadership appointments

21 May 2026

Earlier this year, the BSAVA set out its plan to create a future-focused organisation – one that provides members with the support and the voice they need, when they need it, wherever they are in their career.

A central part of delivering this vision is ensuring the Association is listening to the profession, acting on what it hears, and giving veterinary professionals the voice they need and deserve.

To bring this plan to life, the BSAVA is changing how it is organised, with three new directors appointed to lead the Association into its next chapter. These appointments mark the next step in its ambitious programme of change – designed to ensure its offer to members is more joined up, more responsive, and more directly focused on what the profession needs: the knowledge, resources and community to thrive throughout their career.

Jon Jeffery joins the BSAVA as Director of Insight and Engagement, bringing over 18 years’ experience in professional membership organisations, most recently as Head of Community at BCS, The Chartered Institute for IT.

Jon has a strong track record of building engaged, insight-led membership communities. In his role, he will focus on evolving how the BSAVA engages with its members and volunteers across the regions, strengthening how it gathers and acts on insight from across the profession, and ensuring its offer reflects members’ experience, their day-to-day work, and the profession they love.

Speaking about his appointment, Jon said: “The BSAVA has an incredible legacy and an exciting future ahead of it. What drew me here was the genuine commitment to the profession and the opportunity to make sure members and volunteers are at the heart of how the organisation moves forward. I’m looking forward to listening, learning and getting stuck in.”

As part of this restructure, Bernard Frost has been appointed Director of Income Generation, responsible for ensuring the BSAVA can sustainably invest in the services and support the profession relies on. Dr Claire Vinten has been appointed Director of Content and Product, with a remit to innovate clinical content and CPD resources so they better meet the profession’s needs, and to make it easier for people to engage with the BSAVA in ways that fit their working lives.

Stacy Woodman, Interim CEO, said: “This next phase is about modernising how the BSAVA operates so we can focus our efforts on what matters most to veterinary professionals and the teams who support them.

“Delivering our strategy successfully depends on staying closely connected to our members, volunteers, partners, and the wider profession, so we continue to evolve in ways that genuinely help people thrive throughout their careers. We’ll confirm further appointments, including our new CEO, in the coming months.”
