BSAVA encourages veterinary surgeons to have their say on ‘Under Care’

4 May 2020

In response to the RCVS review of the definition of ‘under care’, the BVA have established a working group composed of representatives from BVA specialist divisions, including the BSAVA. The aim of the working group is to develop the BVA position on ‘under care’, emergency first aid and out of hours provision, and the associated role of telemedicine (including but not limited to remote prescribing) in response to the RCVS review.

Sheldon Middleton, Junior Vice President of the BSAVA and BSAVA representative on the working group said, “The consultation from the RCVS is of direct relevance to members of BSAVA and the wider profession. The outcome could impact the working lives of huge numbers of the profession so input at this stage from as many different sources as possible is vital. BSAVA has a place at the table forming the BVA’s position statement and I would encourage you to look at the minutes and developing themes documents which can all be found online. Individual comments are also welcomed via the BVA.”

Further information about the working group, including the minutes of previous meetings and the emerging themes from the working group discussions can be found on the BVA’s working group webpages. Any thoughts or comments relating to the review should be submitted directly to the BVA’s Head of Policy and Governance, Amelia Findon (ameliaf@bva.co.uk).
