In response to the death of Her Majesty the Queen

25 September 2022

The BSAVA is deeply saddened to hear of the death of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and wishes to extend its condolences to all members of the Royal family.

During the Queen’s 70-year reign she was a well-known for her love of animals, especially her dogs, often seen by her side as faithful companions on many occasions.

Her patronage of national, long-standing animal charities with whom BSAVA works alongside was epitomised by her unstinting sense of duty and tremendously appreciated by all with an interest in animal welfare. We are indebted to her for her support and her loyalty to so many worthy causes that had animal welfare at their heart.

BSAVA President, Alison Speakman said “The heartfelt thoughts of all of our staff, volunteers and members are with Royal family at this sad and difficult time. It is truly the passing of an era and the Queen’s presence, dignity and selfless dedication to the country and Commonwealth will be greatly missed. We are immensely grateful for the interest she has shown in supporting animal welfare and we share the great sense of loss felt by the nation in mourning a much-loved and respected monarch.”
