Enhance your ECC and anaesthesia skills

14 February 2017

Vet nurses who wish to improve their emergency and critical care and anaesthesia skills can enrol on the Vet Nurse Merit Award starting this month.

This award consists of 30 hours of CPD delivered in a variety of ways including online resources, one attendance day and a series of webinars.

The first of 10 webinars takes place on Thursday 23rd February on ‘Triage and initial patient assessment’ and continue until Tuesday 18th July when speaker Louise O’Dwyer discusses CPR.

Delegates will be required to attend a practical day in Warrington on Saturday 5th August where topics covered will include tracheotomy placement and care and jugular catheter placement and care.

Previous Vet Nurse Merit Award students have valued this attendance day as an opportunity to meet fellow students while gaining hands-on experience.

The online resource is live from 17th February containing recordings of all webinars, a discussion forum, course notes and other supporting documents, including sets of multiple choice questions to informally test learning progress.

The course will finish with an online multiple choice question assessment and a case study.

All aspects will be delivered by Louise O’Dwyer, BSc(Hons) RVN, MBA, VTS(Cardiology), DipAVN(Medical), DipAVN(Surgical).  After qualifying in 1999, and spending time in practice, Louise gained diplomas in both surgical and medical advanced veterinary nursing in addition to many other qualifications. A regular CPD lecturer, Louise is also author of ‘Wound Management for the Veterinary Nurse and Technician’ and co-author of ‘Practical Emergency and Critical Care Veterinary Nursing’.

Enrol now for this highly flexible way to further your veterinary nursing career.
