Discover the weird and wonderful world of endocrinology with Professor Ian Ramsey
23 March 2026
Professor Ian Ramsey, the winner of this year’s BSAVA Bourgelat Award, will deliver his Bourgelat Lecture, The weird and wonderful world of endocrinology, online on 22 April.
The Bourgelat Award recognises Ian’s outstanding contribution to small animal medicine and his reputation as one of the leading veterinary specialists in the UK and internationally.
His work across internal medicine, particularly endocrinology, has had a significant and lasting impact on the profession. He is widely regarded as an exceptional lecturer whose teaching continues to inspire colleagues and students alike.
Across a 30-year career, Ian has collected a host of unusual and unexpected endocrine cases. While diabetes, thyroid disease and Cushing’s disease form the bulk of most clinicians’ caseloads, this Bourgelat lecture will take delegates behind the scenes of some of the more surprising and unusual cases he has encountered. “Some cases are sad, some are happy,” he explains, “but all are once-in-a-lifetime cases from which we can all learn something.”
Freely available to the whole veterinary profession, the Bourgelat Lecture will take place at 7.30pm on 22 April, online. To sign up, visit the BSAVA website.
