Computers for Africa

4 March 2016

At BSAVA Congress in April, delegates are encouraged to visit the AFSCAN stand (ICC 14) to donate unwanted computer equipment, make a donation, and find out more about what this BSAVA supported initiative is doing to help the veterinary profession in Africa.

The WSAVA Foundation’s African Small Companion Animal Network (AFSCAN) project was launched in June 2014 with a meeting between the Project Board and delegates from Kenya, Uganda, Nigeria, Tanzania and Namibia. The AFSCAN mission statement summarises the overall aim of the project: AFSCAN is a global initiative which facilitates capacity building in the African veterinary community to enhance quality in small companion animal medicine with a One Health perspective.

Led by the WSAVA Foundation, AFSCAN is a ground-breaking project supported by a consortium that includes BSAVA, Mission Rabies, Vetfolio, Circa, OiE, Vetstream, Computers 4 Africa, Petplan, WVS, Kruuse, and Zoetis.

To find out more about donating your old working PCs, phones, laptops and tablets to help African veterinary colleagues with training and development, visit www.afscan.org or call 0300 112233.
