Avian influenza confirmed in Preston

Avian Influenza (H5N8) has been confirmed in a flock of farmed breeding pheasants at a premises in Preston, Lancashire. A 3km Protection Zone and a 10km Surveillance Zone have been put in place around the infected premises.

Update
On 27 January Defra confirmed a second case of Avian influenza H5N8 in a second flock of pheasants at a farm near Pilling, Wyre, Lancashire. This case was identified and traced as part of their investigation following the case confirmed in Lancashire on 24 January 2017. Full details of the restrictions are set out in the declaration.
