This award is for the first named author of the best published paper in the JSAP in small animal surgery, including but not limited to, soft tissue surgery, anaesthesia, orthopaedics and surgical aspects of neurology, ophthalmology, diagnostic imaging and exotics (NTCA) during the 12 months ending 30th September. There are no nominations for this award, and it is decided by the JSAP Editor after consultation with the Editorial Board.

 

2025 Winner – Dr. med. vet. Frederik Volz

Frederik is the recipient of the Melton Award in recognition of his research article; Effect of intra-articular platelet-rich plasma or hyaluronic acid on limb function recovery in dogs with TPLO for cranial cruciate ligament rupture: a randomised controlled trial, which was published in the Journal of Small Animal Practice (JSAP). He is a resident of the European College of Veterinary Surgery (Small Animal) at the newly merged Small Animal Clinic at LMU Munich.
