The shows will go on confirm BSAVA’s Regions Now Volunteers
23 November 2020
The BSAVA’s Regions Now Programme will continue in its virtual format, the Association’s regional volunteers behind the initiative have confirmed. The popular sessions offer high quality CPD in 12 separate regions around the UK. They can be accessed by any BSAVA members and non-members regardless of their location.
Regions Now was introduced in September 2020, in direct response to Covid-19 to ensure ongoing provision of regional CPD.
“It’s obviously disappointing to be unable to go ahead with our plans to develop Regions Now from virtual to face-to-face meetings,” said Chair of Regions Beckie Smith. “But our virtual Regions Now programme with its ‘community format’ has been very well received so far and we plan to build on this beyond March. Our regional volunteers are all committed to continue to deliver relevant, engaging, educational and practical content throughout the regions, despite the ongoing constraints of the pandemic.”
The series of 12 online events has been presented in a format that is new for the BSAVA, beginning with around an hour of pre-recorded content, chunked into bite-size, easily digestible pieces, available up to a week before the main live session.
Delivered via the Zoom app, the live interactive sessions are followed by questions and answers with the main speaker. For a week after that session, there is an online discussion forum, allowing participants to offer observations about the lessons learned and describe their own experience in handling cases with relevant disease conditions.
The format and content have been praised by members, with feedback including: “Really appreciate that BSAVA have taken this opportunity to widen the audience for these regional CPD events. I often can’t make it to ‘local’ Cymru events, and I have now signed up for several upcoming Regions courses. Great value membership!”
The sessions are free for BSAVA members and £50.00 (incl. VAT) for non-members. Members of the particular region hosting the event will be given priority booking for that event although the events are open to members around the country.
