It’s Veterinary Nursing Awareness Month!

1 May 2023

Today marks the start of Veterinary Nursing Awareness Month (VNAM), a month to celebrate and raise awareness of the hard work that veterinary nurses do across the country. VNAM started in 2012 and is led each year by the British Veterinary Nursing Association (BVNA). This year the theme is empowerment, and we’ve got plenty of activities to highlight the importance of vet nurses in practice.

Throughout the month, take a look at our social media channels, where we’ll be highlighting facts that your clients and pet owners may not know about what vet nurses do in practice. These facts cover things such as x-rays, dentistry, and blood samples.

We’ve also created some veterinary nursing clinics on Kahoot! These quick quizzes are set to test your knowledge on vaccinations, wound care, minor procedures and nutrition and weight management. You can access the quizzes below, let us know how you get on!

To get a better insight into what life is like as a veterinary nurse, we spoke to Georgia Woods-Lee BSc(Hons) RVN CertCFVHNut VTS (Nutrition), who has been a veterinary nurse for 21 years, and now has a focus on obesity care and nutrition. You can read the full interview with Georgia here.
