Get recognised for your peer-review work
26 September 2016
The Journal of Small Animal Practice, through our publishing partner Wiley, has partnered with Publons to give reviewers recognition for their contribution to peer review.
What is Publons and how will this work?
Publons helps you to record, verify, and showcase your peer review contributions. Publons collects information about peer review and editorial activity and builds profiles for participating reviewers and journal editors. A Publons profile shows an expert’s verified review and editorial history across all journals, without breaking reviewer anonymity or infringing on journal policies.
When you next complete a review for JSAP, you will be given the option within JSAP’s submission and peer-review system, ScholarOne, to opt into the Publons service. The review process remains blinded, and neither the details of the manuscripts you reviewed, nor the content of your reviews, will be published – only the journal title and the year of the review are displayed on Publons. You can choose not to participate, or you can opt out of the service at any time.
The same will apply if you review for other participating Wiley journals. To date, 6,175 Wiley reviewers have already added 15,806 of their reviews to Publons. You can also set up an account with Publons to add reviews you have done for other journals – these will be verified with the journals and help you to provide a complete record of your activities.
Peer-review is vital to maintaining the standards of published scientific information, and we are most grateful to those who give their time to reviewing for JSAP – we hope that this collaboration with Publons will help to further recognise your valuable contribution.
