Further Defra/APHA update on EU Exit: ‘No-deal’ scenario & impact on vets

12 March 2019

Last week BSAVA provided an update to all members regarding Government preparations for the UK’s departure from the EU. In particular, given negotiations are ongoing between the UK and the EU the outcome of which is unknown, the UK is also preparing for a ‘no-deal’ scenario in the event that the UK leaves the EU without a deal.

Further to last week’s update, Defra and APHA have provided a further update by sharing a webex recording attended by key veterinary organisations late last week. During the webex Government provided broad updates on information relating to Export Health Certificates (EHCs) which vets in practice, in particular those who may be involved in OV work, should be aware of in order to prepare for a potential No-deal EU Exit.

A video of the presentation including audio is now available here.

Last week’s BSAVA News article update can be accessed here.

EHCs will also be discussed as part of the BSAVA Big Issues stream on Fri 5th April at BSAVA Congress, in particular issues relating to certification and passports. Access to the Big Issues programme can be found here.

BSAVA will continue to liaise with government departments to obtain updates and share relevant information with BSAVA members as soon as it is available.
