Fear Free Becomes Global Education Partner of WSAVA

7 August 2019

DENVER, CO (July 29, 2019) – With a dedication to animal welfare, Fear Free, LLC and the World Small Animal Veterinary Association (WSAVA) have joined forces to bring affordable access to Fear Free Certification to veterinary healthcare teams around the world.

Since 2016, Fear Free has provided online and in-person education to more than 50,000 veterinary and pet professionals. By closely listening to the needs of the veterinary profession, Fear Free focuses on emotional wellbeing, enrichment, and the reduction of fear, anxiety, and stress in pets. Both individuals and veterinary practices can become Fear Free CertifiedÒ.

WSAVA works to enhance the clinical care and welfare of companion animals globally, representing more than 200,000 veterinarians around the world through its 110 member associations. Its core activities include the creation of Global Guidelines that set standards for veterinary care in key areas of practice, including nutrition, pain management, and welfare.

Fear Free has promised to provide the following pricing for the Veterinary Professional Certification Program to WSAVA Member Associations:

  • Complimentary registration for all Tier 1 WSAVA Member Associations
  • 50% discount on registration Tier 2 WSAVA Member Associations
  • 20% discount on registration to Tier 3 WSAVA Member Associations

“Fear Free can’t fulfill its mission of alleviating fear, anxiety, and stress in animals without reaching professionals in under-served areas,” said Fear Free founder Dr. Marty Becker. “This partnership with WSAVA makes the program accessible to veterinary team members in regions struggling with access to educational opportunities. We’re proud to be working together for the benefit of people, pets, and the veterinary profession.”

WSAVA President Dr Shane Ryan said: “As veterinarians, our responsibility extends beyond the physical health of our patients, and the anxiety and stress suffered by many companion animals reduces their welfare and quality of life. The Fear Free program provides a wealth of evidence-based information to support veterinary healthcare teams in reducing anxiety and stress in their patients, both during clinic visits and when they are at home with their families and communities. We look forward to working with Fear Free to ensure that all veterinarians have access to the education and resources they need to ensure the highest standards of welfare for their patients.”
