BSAVA Southern Region Pub Quiz

4 January 2017

Southern Region held their annual charity Pub Quiz at Potters Heron Hotel near Romsey recently, which was also attended by BSAVA President, Susan Dawson.  The evening was organised to support two animal charities, Nowzad and PetSavers.

Pen Farthing, founder of Nowzad (pictured right), gave a talk on the charity before supper. He then acted as quiz master for the evening and after a close competition, the winners were Falkland Vets.

A raffle was also held on the night with a large number of prizes kindly donated by BSAVA, PetSavers, Nowzad, Anderson Moores, Avacta, Boehringer Ingelheim , Ceva, Zoetis, Bayer, Royal Canine, Potters Heron, and committee members.

Thank you to all who came along to help raise money for both charities and keep an eye on the website for details of the 2017 pub quiz.

About Nowzad
As a former Royal Marine, Pen befriended a local stray dog while in Nowzad, Afghanistan.  The dog was named Nowzad and, as it had been abused by dog fighting, it took a while for Pen to gain his trust. Soon afterwards he found a bitch and her puppies stuck in a drainage ditch.  She became his second companion and was christened Tali.

Pen’s acts of kindness are not in isolation, the charity has helped repatriate thousands of animals to the USA, UK and Europe to be reunited with the soldiers that befriended them while on tours of duty.
