The power of research

Donate

BSAVA PetSavers has been funding veterinary research for over 50 years, with more than £2.7 million in grants awarded to over 300 research projects since 1974.

Who we are

PetSavers is the grant-awarding arm of BSAVA, and one of few funding bodies dedicated to the study and improvement of pet medicine and surgery. We award grants to researchers in universities and veterinary practices, enabling veterinary surgeons, nurses, and academics to undertake vital research into the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of diseases in pets.

To date, we’ve invested over £2.7 million in vital research in areas as diverse as cancer, heart disease, neurological disorders, bone and joint disease, immunological conditions, gastrointestinal disorders, and skin disease. We only fund research with real in-practice relevance for veterinary professionals, so every pound we invest could lead to the latest knowledge, technology and treatment approaches in the hands of vets and veterinary nurses.

We strive to be the UK’s leading provider of grants exclusively for clinical research into companion animal diseases. In recent years, we’ve expanded to support clinical researchers at all stages of their careers, including students. Our student project grants enable promising early career researchers to build the skills and experience needed to become life-long researchers in veterinary science.

Our unique research community is growing and there’s never been a better time to get involved, whether as a researcher, donor, or volunteer.

Together we can help our companion animals to live longer, fuller, healthier lives.
