Join Us as a Lay Member of the BSAVA PetSavers Management Committee!
Are you passionate about the health and welfare of pets? Do you want to contribute to the strategic direction of a charity dedicated to improving small animal healthcare? If so, we have the perfect volunteer opportunity for you!
About BSAVA PetSavers: BSAVA PetSavers is part of the British Small Animal Veterinary Association, dedicated to funding clinical research to improve the diagnosis, management, and treatment of small animal diseases. Over the past 40 years, we’ve invested over £2 million in groundbreaking research that benefits pets and supports the careers of veterinary professionals.
Role Overview: As a Lay Member of the PetSavers Management Committee (PMC), you’ll play a vital role in shaping the future of this charity by providing a fresh, independent perspective. This is a strategic and rewarding opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of pets and the veterinary community.
What You’ll Do:
- Participate in three committee meetings per year (in-person or online).
- Contribute to email discussions and review documents between meetings.
- Support fundraising and strategic decision-making.
- Bring an external, non-veterinary perspective to the committee.
What We’re Looking For:
- A passion for the health and welfare of pets.
- The ability to represent the experiences of donors, fundraisers, and the public.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Willingness to commit time for meetings, background reading, and discussions.
- Previous experience in charity fundraising is a plus but not essential.
What You’ll Gain:
- The chance to give back and make a meaningful impact.
- Opportunities to develop new skills and gain valuable experience in charity governance.
- Networking with passionate individuals in the veterinary and charitable sectors.
- Free registration to the prestigious BSAVA Congress (subject to meeting attendance and helping with PetSavers activities).
Additional Details: This is a voluntary role. Travel expenses for committee meetings will be reimbursed in line with BSAVA’s expenses policy. Membership is typically for three years, and full support and training will be provided.
How to Apply: Interested? We’d love to hear from you! In the first instance, please submit a covering letter outlining why you wish to apply for the role and a CV to the Volunteers Manager, Carole Haile on volunteer@bsava.com. We can arrange for an informal conversation with the PMC Chair, Rosie Godfrey, who will be able to provide an overview of the current work of the committee.
